Buhari Promises Support For Uzodinma: ‘I Will Make Sure The Governor Achieve More

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday promised he would use his power to support Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma in securing and developing the southeastern state.

The 78-year-old was in the Eastern Heartland to commission four newly executed projects.

His visit has been met with mixed feelings, with some residents across the state – and in other southeastern states – obeying a sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The Biafran group – which has been labelled as a terrorist organisation by the Buhari administration – is demanding the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, 53.

This is President Buhari’s first visit to Imo state since taking office in 2015.

He said he was impressed with Uzodinma. Both men are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“I have gone round and I am impressed with what I saw,” the former military ruler said. “A society without security and infrastructure will not progress and [I’m] lucky this is where my vision has tallied with the governor of Imo state.”

“I will use my power as enshrined by the constitution to make the governor achieve more,” Buhari added while commissioning the Egbeada-Onitsha bypass road in Owerri.
