Sabratha vessel of Tripoli Coast Guard rescued 40 illegal immigrants including Nigerians, from the Mediterranean while on their way to Europe.
The rescue operation took place over The Weeknd, at Zuwara North, the Libyan Navy Information Office said.
According to the Coast Guards, the migrants were found on board a rubber boat, pointing out that among them were 31 men, 8 women, and a child.
The office explained that the migrants were of different nationalities, including 5 women, 11 men from Nigeria, 15 men, 3 women and one child from Morocco, in addition to 4 men from Egypt and a Syrian.
The migrants were provided with humanitarian and medical assistance before they were transferred to Tajoura Immigration Centre.
