Gofrey George recently interviewed the sister of a tricycle rider, Maria Sogunle, who was allegedly stabbed to death by a security officer in the Meiran area of Lagos State.
According to the sister, someone called her and said that her brother had been stabbed by a security officer. She went further and asked what he did, but she was told that he did nothing and that it was because of the N100 bribe, which he refused to give to the security man.
Maria further said that some people said her brother told the security officer that he would come back and give him the money, because he did not have it at the time, but the security man wouldn’t listen.
According to her, the security officer did not want to listen to her brother, so he brought out a knife and stabbed him in his chest. He bled to death.
She added that she kept thinking about it as she stood among the crowd and that her brother was killed because of N100.
