Why There Can’t Be Revival Of Grazing Routes In Oyo – Makinde Reveals

0

The Seyi Makinde Government of Oyo State has ruled out the possibility of reviving grazing routes in Oyo State.

President Muhammadu Buhari is insisting on doing so while many stakeholders, especially southern governors have said no due to the violence and disruptions that killer herdsmen are causing.

Oyo has been a victim, as the criminals have unleashed a lot of mayhem in the Oke Ogun area.

It is the genesis of the problem that businessman and Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, now facing trial in Benin Republic, have with the Federal Government.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, said the state had outlawed anything open grazing.

He told ‘Sunday Punch’ in an interview: “Oyo State has an anti-open grazing law which was signed into law in 2019. The law prohibits open grazing of animals. That rules out the possibility of revival of the said grazing routes. The state however has farm settlements that have the capacity to accommodate the entire value chain of animal husbandry.”
